The Galaxy S8 has seen a lot of rumors so far. Samsung’s next flagship smartphone will be a feature laden device. We’ve seen rumors claim an edge to edge display, dual cameras, iris scanning and more for the smartphone. Several sources also claim an expedited launch date for the device so Samsung can counter the Note 7’s negative impact. The rumor mill really does seem to eager to share information on the Galaxy S8. This fact becomes even more evident as we take a look at today’s image.
The ink has barely dried on the second Galaxy Note 7 recall, and we are already getting speculative info on the next big thing for Samsung. There is much more than usual riding on the Galaxy S8 this time, as it will be the first major release after the Note 7 fiasco, and, unsurprisingly, the S8 is expected to feature a curved Dual edge screen as well.
In fact, a fairly consistent leakster account on Weibo has posted a table with the purported Galaxy S8 Edge specs, comparing them with the ones on the just-announced Xiaomi Mi Note 2. Both phones are sporting curved displays there, but the flexible OLED on the Mi Note 2 is apparently LG-made, and it’s a 5.7″ panel with Quad HD resolution, whereas the S8 would eventually take it up a notch with a 5.5″ 4K panel, which VR aficionados could only be salivating about. So far, so good, we’ve heard that Samsung is hard at work on a 5.5″ 4K display already, so that’s not out of whack.
The Galaxy S8 edge is listed with two chipset versions, Snapdragon 830 and Exynos 8895, both made with the upcoming 10nm process. This, too, is perfectly plausible, given that Samsung recently announced a move to mass production of 10nm chipsets. The handset would apparently be available in 6 GB or 8 GB RAM configurations, and this one is harder to believe. Not that Samsung didn’t announce 8 GB mobile RAM recently, but it has never separated its flagship by RAM amount, unless there will be a special version for China with 8 GB RAM, like it was said to happen with the Note 7.
